Parent Trap Movie Night

Family Movie Night: The Parent Trap and Matching Movie-Inspired Meals

ree

Hello, movie lovers!

I have always been a big movie dan. My parents have always made movies so special, whether we went to see them, or went and rented movies from the video store and spent weekend nights watching movie after movie. It has always been such a thing in our family. Now its even easier to have a movie night with the family with all the streaming services. So a movie buff like me always loves to take advantage. This is why we are adding a dinner and a movie series!

Our latest family movie night was full of fun, food, and a touch of nostalgia as we watched The Parent Trap—the Lindsay Lohan version, of course! It has always been one of my favorites, I think i even wore out the tape when I was little. So this is part of a new series we’re doing, where we watch family-friendly movies and try to match the food to scenes in the movie. This week’s movie was packed with laughs, heartwarming moments, and, of course, some delicious food to match the iconic scenes.

Dinner: Pasta, Just Like in the Movie!

In the film, there’s a scene where the dad, Nick Parker (Dennis Quaid), volunteers to cook while Jessie is away, and pasta is his big go-to. It seal it when the mom, Elizabeth James (Natasha Richardson) says "says you can cook now." We decided to do the same! Pasta for dinner was simple, hearty, and a perfect fit for the night. I couldn’t help but laugh when my nephew asked if our dinner was the same as the movie’s—his little face lit up with excitement when we said yes!

Dessert: Oreos and Peanut Butter

For dessert, we couldn’t resist recreating the twins’ famous bonding moment with Oreos and peanut butter. It may sound strange, but if it’s good enough to bring two long-lost sisters together, it’s good enough for us! Let me tell you, my nephew’s eyes lit up when we introduced him to this snack—he was in total awe of the combination. The magic of that moment was just as sweet as the dessert itself. So easy to put together too!

Why I Loved This Night

There’s something truly magical about watching the sparkle in a child’s eyes as they experience the wonder of movies and fun traditions like this. Seeing my nephew so enthralled with The Parent Trap and the food moments made me realize just how special these family movie nights can be. It’s not just about watching a film; it’s about creating lasting memories together.

What’s Next?

We’re already planning our next family movie night, complete with food to match! Stay tuned for more fun ideas and themed dinners as we continue this series.
